The Fun and Value of Collecting Stickpins

Kim May is bringing to Wrentham Antiques Marketplace on Sunday, February 8th between 12-5, an extensive collection of over 100 stickpins, as part of the Jewelry Event featuring her antique and vintage jewelry. This collection of stickpins was 20 years in the making and includes gold, diamond, gemstones and seed pearl stickpins from the 1860's through 1915.

Stickpins were worn by gentlemen during the Victorian era to secure their neckties is place, much like a tie tack. In the 1960's, they became highly popular with women who wore them as a lapel or scarf pin. In recent years, there has been a growing interest in stickpins with some collectors seeking specific categories of stickpins. Some look for stickpins denoting certain organizations, such as the Skull & Bones Society, others search only for love knots, while one collector I know cares only for gargoyles and griffins.

Prices have been slowly climbing but this collection has some stickpins priced at only $5.00!

Kim will discuss ways in which to display and also wear stickpins. This collection will be available one day only at WAM - so don't miss the chance to start a pretty neat collection of antique jewelry at affordable prices.

Looking forward to meeting WAM's customers on Sunday, February 8th between 12-5!

Happy Collecting!
